Don’t Miss “Moana” at Levitt Pavilion

June 8, 2017 2:30 pm

The Levitt Pavilion plays host to a variety of outdoor events throughout the year, mostly free concerts. But it also screens movies that are appropriate for all ages, and admission is free to these as well. So mark your calendar to see Moana at Levitt Pavilion on Thursday, June 8th at 8 p.m.

Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and a picnic meal (beer and wine are allowed for adults, as long as they aren't in glass containers). Settle in a bit before the movie begins so that you're all ready to watch as Moana embarks on an animated adventure. With the help of washed-up demigod Maui, Moana traverses the ocean—and encounters plenty of obstacles along the way—as she discovers who she truly is. Don't miss this fun movie screening near you this June.

The American Jazz Composers Orchestra Plays Stevie Wonder on Sunday, June 4th

May 24, 2017 1:00 pm

In 2010, a trio of jazz professors from the University of Texas, Arlington, decided that the DFW area simply wasn't offering enough opportunities to enjoy contemporary jazz. So they decided to take matters into their own hands and created the American Jazz Composers Orchestra, a body of musicians dedicated to bringing jazz to Dallas-Fort Worth and beyond.

Part of its mission was also to highlight contemporary artists, which is why the American Jazz Composers Orchestra Plays Stevie Wonder on Sunday, June 4th at Levitt Pavilion Arlington. Starting at 8 p.m., the orchestra of local DFW-area musicians breathes new life into Stevie Wonder classics with their fresh, jazzy take on the melodies. Admission is free; just bring along a blanket or lawn chair to set up shop for the outdoor concert.
